We are thrilled to announce that Sofia Schugar has joined Source Endurance as a cycling coach! Sofia comes from a background of elite triathlon, road, and gravel racing. and is available now to work with athletes at all levels.
Sofia comes from a background of elite road and gravel racing with a athlete-student background from triathlon at UCSD. Her 2023 results have her on the podium at BWR North Carolina, first place at San Diego’s own Boulevard Road Race and a few more local podiums in SoCal. She was also able to compete in Joe Martin Stage Race and aided Fount in securing a top 10 GC for the team.
With a degree from UCSD in Cognitive Neuroscience- Neuroscience, Sofia has worked in the research realm for several years with studies raging from genetic manipulation of serotonin receptors to fMRI studies for substance abuse treatment. She uses this scientific approach when learning about and employing the best research surrounding endurance sport and continues learning for life, especially in the endurance realm.
While at UCSD Sofia developed a passion for triathlon, but has a talent for biking. She continues her relationship with the triathlon world by coaching many athletes for middle to long distance triathlon events. She specializes in time restricted age group athletes and pushes them towards PR and Podiums with structured, yet manageable training programs.
She has always had a love for endurance sport of course science backed training methods, but she likes to also keep training fun, focused, and engaging for her clients. Her favorite coaching experiences range from Ironman and 70.3 age group wins to managing a workout schedule for 70 high school cross country athletes at Torrey Pines High School. She loves creating manageable programs for the time crunched athlete with lofty goals. She believes that a personalized approach can help anyone achieve their best.
