Rider Highlight: Maison Chen finishes 2nd in his age group at Quick n' Dirty MTB Race

Maison Chen recently finished second in his age group at the Quick n’ Dirty MTB Race, Sports category.  This road-rider friendly course was low on the technical skill required and had big open sections where drafting was beneficial.

How’d the race go down for you?

This was the best Quick n’ Dirty result for me in the Sports category. I was able to sprint out of the gate, stay with the leaders for pretty much the entire course. The run-in to the finish was narrow and I knew I had to be the first or second in the group. While I did get in the right position, I ran into the back of a lapped rider and lost my position right at the last chicane. But I still managed second in my age group.

Which coach do you work with and how did your training help you prepare for the event?

I just started working with coach Adam the week before. I had uploaded all my power files. I had saved all the files but had not really ever looked at them. I had been training hard, but because I hadn’t raced well in the last couple of months, I had been compensating by training even more. Adam looked at my files and said to me, “take 2 days off”. On the day of the race, I felt super!
