Coach Adam, USA Cycling Coach Developer

Coach Developer

Contributing to the USA Cycling Level 1 and Level 2 USA Cycling Coaching Clinic as an instructor/ coach educator/ coach developer was an honorable and fulfilling experience for me. The clinics took place at the Thaden School in Bentonville, AR, nestled in the vibrant (borderline ridiculous) community of Bentonville. Thaden School is known for its innovative education approach, emphasizing interdisciplinary learning and a deep connection to the surrounding community. These same qualities would be the basis for the rebooted Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching clinics.

I arrived in Bentonville just in time for the clean-up of Lifetime's Big Sugar event. I'm still 0-forever since 2018 in my ability to be accepted into a Lifetime event.

One of the most rewarding aspects is fostering a sense of community within the cycling world. It's a unique opportunity to connect with individuals who share a deep passion for the sport and to create a positive and supportive learning environment. In this role, I get to witness firsthand the growth and camaraderie that coaches bring to people's lives.

Level 1 clinic

Being a part of USA Cycling means aligning with national coaching standards and staying at the forefront of the latest developments in the sport. The organization's commitment to excellence resonates with me, and teaching within this framework allows me to provide high-quality instruction that meets these standards.

Level 1 group

One aspect that made this experience truly exceptional was the amazing team of instructors including Dr. Dieffenbach, Grant Holicky and anchored by Jon Tarkington, USA Cycling Director of Coach Development and Education.  Collaborating with fellow educators/ coach developers who share the same dedication to the sport and the participants enhanced the overall impact of the Coaching Clinic. The collective expertise and passion of the instructors created an atmosphere of excellence and camaraderie, enriching the learning experience for everyone involved.

In essence, my role as a coach developer is more than just instruction; it's a chance to make a meaningful impact on the cycling community, one that aligns with my personal commitment to the sport and its positive influence on individuals' lives.

Can't wait for the next opportunity!
