Zwift racing and other indoor racing programs is different from outdoor racing and therefore the training should reflect those differences. Our coaches utilize tools within these indoor programs in your daily training to maximize your efficiency and training so you are ready to smash come race-day. Source Endurance incorporates a variety of tools to keep things engaging and effective for an overall quality training program including Pace Partners, specific QOM/KOM efforts, custom erg mode interval workouts, and knowledge of Zwift and other indoor app courses.

Utilizing Indoor Training Apps for Coaching

Source Endurance launched a free guide titled Utilizing Indoor Training Apps for Coaching, written and designed by Colorado-based senior coach Zack Allison. This guide evaluates the smart trainer and all the apps and tools that have come in its wake. Designed with cycling and triathlon coaches in mind, it is also beneficial for the devoted self-coached athlete. Coaches are eligible to get Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Performance Improvement and Pitfalls in Weight Cutting for Virtual eRacing

“That rider is cheating at e-racing (Zwift)!” seems to be a common utterance among virtual e-racers (ZwiftRGTRouvyBkoolFulGaz) regardless of what platform they’re using.  Without a doubt every platform has cheating issues that they’re working hard to remedy and I’m sure there is significant progress being made. However, the rider could simply have executed a weight cutting regimen and is enjoying a significant performance boost. Weight cutting for e-racing is something new to the game but not really new to many sports like Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Wrestling and Juj Jitsu.

Weight Cutting for Cycling E-Racing

With weigh-ins becoming part of the sport, we are now forced to approach the topic of weight manipulation and strategies such as cutting weight and weight loss more than we have in the past. Whether athletes perform weight cuts (short term weight loss by dehydration and loss of water weight) or choose to lose body weight longer term (in the form of fat or lean mass) to favor their watts/kg ratio, coaches and athletes should be aware of the benefits and risks associated with these methods.
