Event & Category:

Kansas State Crit, Masters 65

Brief event/course description:

The course was held on Haskell College campus. Short course with several turns, a couple a little tricky. The masters 50,60 and 65 all raced together.

How’d the race go down for you?

The race went well, it was fast from the start. I was able to stay with the lead group and attacked a couple times. At one point John (another Source client and 60+ racer) and I got away. We had a good gap but the youngsters (50’s masters) worked together and pulled us back. It came down to a sprint, I beat all the 60’s and finished in the top 10 overall.
Which coach do you work with and how did your training help you prepare for the event?
I have worked with Adam Mills for several years. Besides overall conditioning, Adam has worked me on speed and my jump. This has been mainly for cyclocross, but a big help in crits also.

What advice do you have for someone up and coming in your cycling discipline?

Don’t get discouraged, every race and season builds on the previous one. If you really want good results, work with a coach. Ride smarter, not just longer!
