Belgian Waffle Ride Survival Camp 3.0 Recap Day 2

The Belgian Waffle Ride Survival Camp 3.0 ran January 12-14, 2018, for three days of course reconnaissance of the BWR course. Check out our photo journal from Day 1.  Day 2, riders rode 100 miles with the arduous Black Canyon climb as the ride’s peak (no pun intended).

Day 2:

100-miles on tap for Day 2 meant an early start.

100 mile days with plenty of gravel, means hauling an extra tube…Arundel‘s saddle bag easily accommodated the need.

Non negotiable items for the pockets on 100-mile days: A variety of Clif Bar products, Topical Edge, and reapplication of Chamois Butt’r Eurostyle. Castelli Aero Race Bibs don’t hurt either 😉

Velofix San Diego bringing up the rear and providing the peace-of-mind so riders could focus on the task at hand.

First gravel section of the day!

There were long road climbs too…

Shelby of Monster Media Racing was a huge behind-the-scenes help keeping everyone fueled and hydrated. Thanks Shelby!

NiteRider keeping everyone visible and safe, no matter the light or terrain.

The never-ending journey up Black Canyon…

Salt, blood, and tears were offered to the training gods.

Last climb of the day! Ha! Who are we kidding…

Adam Mills recounting the day with a Lost Abbey beer in hand.

Velofix San Diego had everyone covered with WD-40 Bike products to keep everyone’s bikes tip-top.

Massages by Cyclists’ Massage aided riders’ recovery from Day 2.

Refueling.

Cheers to Day 2 in the books!

Thanks for info on the Waffle ride. Our son, Chris Graves, will be striving and enjoying the ride. Always love the support and enthusiasm you give the participants. He wouldn’t miss this one. So much fun.
