Belgian Waffle Ride Survival Camp 3.0 Recap Day 1

The Belgian Waffle Ride Survival Camp 3.0 ran January 12-14, 2018, for three days of course reconnaissance of the BWR course. Check out our photo journal from Day 1. All photos are by DMunson Photo.

Day 1:

Riders arrive, get settled and check in. They also get ready for ride #1, an easy 2-hour ride.

Canyon meticulously sets up riders on Canyon gravel demo bikes.

Velofix- San Diego dialing in bikes, fits, and everything in between. They also followed the ride every day and fixed up bikes post-rides as needed.

Riders were faced with tough decision each day: what assortment of Clif Bar options to fuel-up with each day. So many new Nut Butter Clif Bars and Clif Blok flavors!

Some of the schwag goodies from partners like Canyon, Chamois Butt’r, Castelli, Topical Edge, and Source Endurance.

We took a little pit stop for a tour at The Lost Abbey, a major sponsor of the Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride.

We hit our first dirt section of camp!

First time up Double Peak- we’re still so fresh we’re smiling!

Group shot on top of Double Peak before heading home.

Cheers to finishing our first ride!

At our fancy schmancy dinner, we learned all about the science behind Topical Edge. With 100 miles the next day, everyone is already plotting where they want to reapply!

We then learn all about the different gravel-focused IRC Tire options for varying terrain and weights…

Finishing off the night with the 2018 Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride course reveal with the man himself.
